Gel Plate Print Making Class

Gelatin plate printing is a process for creating a monotype (single image) print which allows a great deal of flexibility in its creation, and versatility in how it can be used and enjoyed. Because the materials involved are not expensive, nor is extensive equipment needed to create an image, this is an ideal starting point for the beginning printmaker. Final images can be very simple or increasingly complex. Prints may be the final objective, or the results can be used to create other art forms such as bookmaking, collages, origami, and jewelry.

In the print making class we will learn how to use and care for the gelatin plate and brayers, explore different ways of using color by layering, blending and color gradation for single and multiple layer prints.
